Program tied to broader plan to expand domestic chicken production

MEXICO – Multiva and Pilgrim’s Mexico have entered into a financing agreement worth 2.5 billion pesos (US$146 million) to support poultry suppliers across Mexico over the next 4 years.
The arrangement aligns with the Mexico Plan, a federal initiative that brings together public and private sector players to improve food supply systems and stimulate economic activity in key regions.
Under the agreement, poultry farmers supplying Pilgrim’s Mexico will gain access to funding to cover operational needs, such as feed, inputs, and working capital, while also supporting upgrades in production technology.
In addition, Multiva indicated that the financing package will include technical support services intended to help producers manage operations more efficiently and strengthen their role within the poultry supply chain.
This financing model is structured to improve coordination between financial institutions and agricultural producers, thereby making supply chains more stable and increasing output at the farm level.
The initiative comes as Pilgrim’s Mexico advances a broader investment plan that will see the company commit US$1.3 billion between 2026 and 2030 to expand its operations in the country.
As part of that expansion, the company is targeting a 35% reduction in chicken imports by increasing domestic production capacity through stronger supplier networks.
The program is expected to generate around 4,000 direct jobs and an additional 16,000 indirect jobs, particularly in regions where poultry farming is already a significant economic activity.
States identified as key beneficiaries include Durango, Coahuila, Querétaro, San Luis Potosí, Hidalgo, Veracruz, Campeche, and Yucatán, where supplier participation in the scheme is anticipated to be concentrated.
Taken together, the financing agreement and planned capital investment reflect a coordinated effort to expand Mexico’s poultry output while improving supply chain participation among smaller producers.
