The programme reflects Oman’s broader commitment to national food security through targeted logistics support.

OMAN – Asyad Shipping will receive government support covering 50% of fuel and insurance costs for eligible food cargo shipments on the India-Oman trade route for up to six months, strengthening national food security and moderating logistics costs for essential food imports.
The initiative, effective immediately, aims to stabilize the national food supply chain and reduce consumer prices.
Asyad Shipping said the benefit would be passed on to qualifying customers transporting eligible food cargoes on regular container liner services. The company currently operates one container liner vessel on the India-Oman route.
Programme Structure and Implementation
The subsidy covers half of fuel and insurance costs for six months, with the state aiming to stabilize food supply chains and reduce consumer prices.
Asyad Shipping will pass these savings directly to qualifying customers, with the financial impact still under assessment. The support comes as Oman continues to place food security, trade connectivity, and logistics resilience at the centre of economic planning.
Leadership Commitment and National Objectives
Dr Ibrahim al Nadhairi, Chief Executive Officer of Asyad Shipping, said the company was proud to support the Government of Oman’s food security objectives. “We are proud to play our part in supporting the Government of Oman’s food security objectives and contribute to the reliable supply of essential goods to the Sultanate,” he said.
“As Oman’s national shipping carrier, we remain committed to providing dependable maritime transport solutions that strengthen supply chains and support the nation’s long-term economic goals.”
Strategic Positioning and Trade Connectivity
The company operates a diversified fleet of about 90 vessels and serves more than 60 countries across Asia, the Middle East, and North Africa. The programme reflects Oman’s broader commitment to national food security through targeted logistics support.
In addition, the 50% coverage of fuel and insurance costs directly benefits qualifying customers. Asyad Shipping’s single vessel on the route will see improved performance over the six-month programme.
More importantly, this initiative strengthens trade connectivity between Oman and India, demonstrating how targeted government support can enhance the reliability of supply chains for essential food imports.
