Orsero enters US market with US$46M Trucco investment, expands global distribution reach

Orsero serves as both a producer and a distributor of bananas, pineapples, apples, melons, and pears.

USA – Orsero has entered the United States market through a strategic investment in the Trucco Group, securing a 45% stake in Trucco Holdings for approximately US$46 million and positioning the company as a global distributor with a foothold in North America.

In a stock exchange filing, the Milan-listed group said it acquired a 45% stake in Trucco Holdings, which owns New Jersey-based Trucco Inc. and TruFresh Logistics. Orsero also retains an option to acquire a further 15% in Trucco Holdings from 2029 onwards.

Additionally, it has struck a deal to purchase a 46% stake in the affiliated business AJ Trucco Inc., pending regulatory approvals, with the transaction expected to be completed before the end of the year. The total consideration is US$46 million, with the investment to be made on a “debt-free/cash-free basis.”

Orsero vice-chair and CEO Raffaella Orsero and co-CEO Matteo Colombini have joined the Trucco board with immediate effect. In a joint statement, they called the move a “transformative milestone,” saying it will “play a fundamental role in our future growth path.

They added: “This strategic step will allow the group to achieve a new scale, giving us a global perspective and exposure to a unique market in terms of purchasing power and consumer trends.”

Trucco Holdings owner and CEO Nick Pacia will retain his majority ownership and continue as chairman and chief executive for at least 6 years. “Together, Trucco and Orsero can further our shared commitment to delivering top-quality produce through seamless procurement and distribution networks,” Pacia said.

Orsero serves as both a producer and a distributor of bananas, pineapples, apples, melons, and pears. Trucco specializes in importing kiwifruit, blueberries, citrus, garlic, and dried fruits.

In 2025, Orsero reported net sales of €1.7 billion (US$1.9 billion), an 8.2% increase on the previous year. The collaboration aims to leverage Trucco’s specialized fruit portfolio and annual revenue to capitalize on the high purchasing power of American consumers.

Finally, this acquisition marks a transformative milestone for Orsero, positioning the firm as a global distributor with a foothold in the competitive North American fresh-commodity sector.
