Company secures direct export approval after audit success

UAE – The Organic Meat Company Limited (TOMCL) is now supplying meat products directly to Carrefour outlets in the United Arab Emirates after meeting the retailer’s operational and quality requirements.
The Karachi-based processor and exporter is the first company from Pakistan’s meat sector to gain this approval from Carrefour UAE, which is operated by Majid Al-Futtaim Hypermarket LLC.
This follows TOMCL’s completion of a comprehensive Systems, Hygiene, and Operational Excellence Audit carried out by the retailer’s inspection team.
The company achieved a score of 94.89 percent in the audit, which examined compliance with global standards throughout its supply chain processes.
Approval means TOMCL has been added to Carrefour UAE’s list of authorised vendors for its entire retail network in the country.
With this status, the company can now supply directly to the hypermarket’s various outlets without going through third-party intermediaries.
TOMCL said the development marks a key stage in its expansion into Middle Eastern markets, where demand for halal-certified meat remains strong.
The company added that the process required meeting strict criteria on food safety, traceability, and operational performance.
According to TOMCL, the Carrefour approval was supported by its technical and compliance teams, as well as cooperation from MAF Hypermarkets Pakistan (Private) Limited, the local arm of Carrefour.
The new arrangement is expected to increase TOMCL’s export volumes to the UAE and provide greater access to high-value retail channels.
The company currently exports a range of chilled and frozen halal meat products to several countries in the region.
Industry analysts note that Carrefour’s procurement standards are designed to align with international benchmarks, making approval a significant market entry point.
TOMCL’s products will now be available in Carrefour UAE’s meat sections alongside other regional and international suppliers.
The company has previously focused on both retail and foodservice channels, with the UAE identified as a priority market.
This latest move comes amid growing competition in the halal meat trade, where companies from South Asia, Australia, and South America are all vying for shelf space.
TOMCL has not disclosed the projected value of its contract with Carrefour, but exports to the UAE form part of Pakistan’s annual meat export trade worth over US$400 million.
