Pura Beverage rolls out clean-label soda in USA

The USA rollout follows success in South African market over the years.

USA – South African beverage innovator Pura Beverage Co. has officially entered the United States market with the launch of its PuraSoda range at Sprouts Farmers Market stores nationwide.

The rollout represents the company’s first major retail expansion outside its home market and signals its ambition to tap into rising US demand for clean-label soft drinks.

PuraSoda is positioned within the better-for-you carbonated beverages category, formulated with just four ingredients, including fruit extracts and organic cane sugar.

Each 10-ounce can contains up to 65 calories, aligning with consumer preferences for lower-calorie, minimally processed refreshment options. Initial flavors introduced to the US market include cucumber and lime, and cranberry and ginger ale.

According to founder and CEO Greig Jansen, the Sprouts partnership provides a strong platform for brand visibility in a competitive but rapidly evolving segment.

The retailer is known for curating natural, organic, and health-focused products, making it a strategic fit for Pura’s clean-label proposition.

“Launching as an exclusive at Sprouts marks an exciting milestone for Pura as our soda officially hits store shelves,” Jansen said.

“We created PuraSoda to deliver real flavor, simple ingredients, and balanced sweetness, meeting the growing demand for beverages consumers can feel good about.”

Beyond brick-and-mortar retail, PuraSoda will also be available via e-commerce channels, including the company’s direct-to-consumer website and Amazon, enabling broader market reach and consumer accessibility.

The US expansion builds on Pura Beverage Co.’s established portfolio in South Africa, where it has gained traction with its Pura Soda range, as well as other better-for-you offerings such as Pura Kids juices and naturally flavored sparkling beverages.

These products emphasize reduced sugar content, natural ingredients, and functional appeal, positioning the company within a global shift toward healthier beverage alternatives.

Industry analysts note that Pura’s entry into the US comes at a time when demand for low-sugar and transparent-label drinks continues to accelerate, driven by wellness-conscious consumers and regulatory pressures on sugar reduction.

The company’s streamlined ingredient list and moderate calorie positioning may help it carve out a niche in a crowded but opportunity-rich category.

With its Sprouts debut, Pura Beverage Co. is expected to test market reception before exploring wider retail distribution across the US, potentially setting the stage for further international expansion.
