UK – Radico Khaitan Limited, one of India’s largest Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) manufacturers, has unveiled two new additions to its acclaimed Rampur Jugalbandi single malt whisky range: Jugalbandi #5 and Jugalbandi #6.
These limited-edition releases continue the brand’s tradition of cask strength whiskies produced at Rampur Distillery, located at the foothills of the Himalayas.
Crafted under the guidance of Master Distiller Anup Barik, the Jugalbandi series is inspired by the ancient Indian musical tradition of ‘Jugalbandi,’ meaning ‘entwined twins,’ a duet between two solo musicians.
Similarly, the whisky range reflects this concept by harmonizing unique cask combinations to create distinct flavors.
Barik said: “I am proud to have created these latest limited editions in the Jugalbandi series, using the highest quality Madeira and Tokaji casks while retaining, at their heart, our classic Rampur single malt whisky profile.”
According to Radico Kaitan, Jugalbandi #5 has been matured in American Bourbon barrels before being finished in Tokaji wine casks.
This combination creates a rich profile, blending the fruity and floral notes of Bourbon with the creamy, honey flavors characteristic of Tokaji.
Tasting notes reveal hints of caramel, roasted almonds, and gingerbread on the nose, while the palate features a creamy texture with layers of honey, caramel, vanilla, and chocolate. It has an ABV of 55.6%.
Jugalbandi #6 is matured exclusively in Madeira wine casks, offering a medley of fruity flavors alongside caramelized pineapple and apricot notes. The ABV for Jugalbandi #6 is slightly higher at 55.8%.
Both whiskies are set to debut at The Whisky Show in London and will be available in the UK, the US, Europe, Singapore, and global travel retail starting in October 2024.
Each bottle will retail for £400 (US$526).
Radico Khaitan’s extensive portfolio also includes brands such as Jaisalmer Indian Craft Gin, Morpheus Brandy, and Magic Moments Vodka.
