Prakaan whisky, made in a UNESCO heritage site, begins global rollout with UK, France, and Germany as first destinations.

EU – International Beverage, the global arm of ThaiBev Group, has announced the international launch of Prakaan, Thailand’s first premium single malt whisky.
This move follows its initial debut across domestic and select Asian markets in 2023.
The global rollout will begin in key European markets including the UK, France, and Germany this year, with expansion to the United States and other regions planned for the near future.
Prakaan introduces its inaugural Tribura Series, a trio of 43% ABV expressions – Select Cask, Double Cask, and Peated Malt.
Inspired by Thailand’s cultural heritage, the series reflects the three protective layers of the ancient wall surrounding Kamphaeng Phet, representing history, provenance, and passion.
Veronica Amago, Global Sales Director at International Beverage, described the launch as a “historic day” for Thailand’s spirits industry, marking the country’s first single malt whisky on the global stage.
Produced at the Prakaan Distillery, located in Thailand’s Kamphaeng Phet province within the Western Forest Complex, a UNESCO World Heritage site, the whisky benefits from the region’s unique natural environment.
According to the company, the combination of local spring water, a hot and humid climate, and traditional Thai craftsmanship creates ideal conditions for whisky maturation.
The name Prakaan means “wall” or “fort” in Thai, paying homage to the ancient fortifications of Kamphaeng Phet. The distillery has been developed with a focus on precision and craftsmanship, guided by a dedicated local whisky creation team.
The pricing of the Tribura Series positions it within the premium whisky category, with Select Cask retailing for £65/US$69.99, Peated Malt at £69/US$79.99, and Double Cask at £74/US$89.99.
International Beverage’s portfolio already includes Thai rum brands such as Mekhong, SangSom, and Phraya, and local beer Chang.
In recent years, the company has expanded internationally by acquiring Larsen Cognac, New Zealand-based Cardrona Distillery, and full ownership of Asiaeuro International Beverage earlier in 2025 to accelerate growth in Asia.
