Volcafe appoints Jason Cortellini as Regional General Manager for North America
Volcafe strengthens its North American leadership with the appointment of coffee industry veteran Jason Cortellini as regional head.
USA – Volcafe, one of the world’s largest coffee merchants, has named Jason Cortellini as Regional General Manager for North America, effective 3 June 2025.
The appointment is expected to enhance Volcafe’s strategic operations and market positioning across the region.
Cortellini brings over 25 years of experience in coffee procurement, trading, brand leadership, and innovation across global markets.
His deep understanding of the North American coffee sector and proven strategic capabilities are anticipated to drive the company’s next phase of regional development.
“Jason brings a wealth of industry knowledge and a deep understanding of the North American market,” said Tim Scharrer, Volcafe’s Chief Operating Officer and Regional Director for Europe and North America.
“I am confident he will be instrumental in leading the team and advancing our mission to become the world’s best coffee partner.”
Before joining Volcafe, Cortellini held senior leadership roles at major industry players. He began his career at Sara Lee before moving to Tata Consumer Products.
At Tata, he served as Vice President, US & Global Head of the Coffee Center of Excellence — an initiative he successfully launched and led.
In his statement, Cortellini expressed enthusiasm about the new role: “I am thrilled to be joining Volcafe, bringing my global experience into this role and engaging more directly with the trading side of the business. I look forward to collaborating with the North America team and using my expertise to support sustainable growth, while continuing to deliver on Volcafe’s promise of making business better, together.”
Earlier in 2025, Volcafe secured a US$23 million term facility from Dutch entrepreneurial development bank FMO to strengthen its Costa Rican operations.
The five-year loan will provide working capital for the purchase and processing of coffee cherries from smallholder farmers and cooperatives.
The facility also supports Volcafe’s Volcafe Way program, which aims to improve resilience and sustainability in local coffee production, further aligning with the company’s long-term strategic goals.
