Quickmart opens three new stores in Nakuru, Kenya, expanding its network to 70 branches

KENYA – Quickmart has expanded its presence in Nakuru by opening three new stores, increasing its national footprint to 70 outlets as the Kenyan supermarket chain continues to expand its operations across the country.

The retailer began its latest expansion in the city with the launch of its State House Road branch on January 23, during an event attended by business leaders, invited guests, and members of the public.

It has since added two more outlets, one on Kenyatta Avenue in Nakuru’s central business district and another in Section 58 along Oginga Odinga Road, both of which officially opened last Friday.

The two latest branches were inaugurated through separate launch events, with the company first opening the central business district outlet before proceeding to the Section 58 location.

The new stores represent Quickmart’s 69th and 70th branches, marking another milestone for the retailer as it celebrates two decades since opening its first supermarket.

Quickmart entered the Nakuru market in 2006 with its first outlet at Shirikisho Building before later opening another branch in the Shabab area of Nakuru Town West.

Although the original Shirikisho store later ceased operations, the retailer has re-established a strong presence in the city by opening three new outlets in less than seven months.

New outlets to operate around the clock

Speaking during the launch, Quickmart Chief Executive Officer Peter Kagiri announced that the Kenyatta Avenue and Section 58 branches will operate 24 hours a day to provide customers with greater shopping convenience.

Kagiri said the company will work with the Nakuru County Government and security agencies to maintain a safe environment for employees and customers using the two round-the-clock stores.

He described Nakuru as an important market for the retailer, noting that it is the hometown of the family’s founders and continues to offer strong opportunities for business growth.

According to Kagiri, the additional branches are expected to improve access to supermarket services for residents across different parts of the city while helping meet growing consumer demand.

He added that the expansion has created new employment opportunities and is expected to contribute to economic activity in Nakuru.

With the latest openings, Quickmart now operates 70 supermarkets across 16 counties.
