DHL names Morocco priority market under Geographic Tailwinds initiative

DHL Global Forwarding has operated in Morocco since 2007, with its primary office in Casablanca and branches in Tangier and Agadir.

MOROCCO – DHL Group has designated Morocco as one of its priority “Geographic Tailwinds” markets, citing the country’s position between Europe and Africa, its industrial base and its role in supply chain diversification, according to a company statement delivered at Tangier Logistics Days 2026.

The designation places Morocco among a select group of high-growth economies DHL has identified as beneficiaries of structural realignments in global trade.

As multinational customers diversify sourcing, manufacturing and distribution away from single-origin supply chains, Morocco’s position bridging Europe and Sub-Saharan Africa has strengthened its standing as a trade hub.

Industrial base

Morocco’s industrial expansion across automotive manufacturing, aerospace engineering, life sciences, healthcare, and food and agriculture has established the country as a destination for nearshoring and direct investment.

Mary Oxley, Vice President of Marketing & Sales at DHL Global Forwarding Middle East & Africa, said: “Morocco’s inclusion in DHL Group’s Geographic Tailwinds priority markets reflects what we are already seeing on the ground. The country is becoming increasingly important in global trade, investment, and supply chain diversification. Its strategic location between Europe and Africa, growing industrial base, strong logistics infrastructure and talented workforce position Morocco well to benefit from changing trade patterns and increasing investment flows in the years ahead.”

DHL operations in Morocco

DHL Group employs more than 400 logistics professionals across its Moroccan business divisions, providing air and ocean freight forwarding, express delivery and contract logistics.

Meanwhile, DHL Express, which began operations in Morocco in 1987, operates air express gateways in Casablanca and Tangier, and has nine service centres, 23 retail outlets and a fleet of 147 delivery vehicles.

Moreover, the division operates two dedicated cargo aircraft and maintains two TAPA-certified facilities.

DHL Global Forwarding has operated in Morocco since 2007, with its primary office in Casablanca and branches in Tangier and Agadir.

The division manages a 3,600-square-metre warehouse in the Tangier Med Hub Free Zone, providing ocean and air freight forwarding, customs clearance and integrated logistics solutions.

The designation follows other logistics investments in Morocco. In September 2026, Maersk launched an integrated rail service linking Tangier and Casablanca to ease port congestion and improve cargo flow.

In addition, Nador West Med’s eastern container terminal also completed live operational trials in September 2026, ahead of commercial operations.

Ultimately, Morocco’s position as a bridge between Europe and Africa makes it a structural winner as supply chains diversify away from single-origin sourcing.
