Beer Sectoral Group appoints Nigerian Breweries CEO Thibaut Boidin as Chairman

Thibaut Boidin takes over as Chairman of Nigeria’s Beer Sectoral Group, focusing on policy advocacy, sustainable growth and strengthening competitiveness across the beer industry.

NIGERIA – The Beer Sectoral Group (BSG), a key body within the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), has announced the appointment of Thibaut Boidin, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian Breweries Plc, as its new Chairman, effective March 5, 2026.

Boidin succeeds Carlos Coutino, who previously led the group and contributed to advancing its strategic objectives within Nigeria’s beer industry.

In his new role, Boidin will work closely with the Board of CEOs to provide strategic direction aimed at addressing critical priorities across the sector. These include promoting sustainable category growth, ensuring commercial freedom through balanced fiscal policies, and strengthening long-term competitiveness in Nigeria’s beverages market.

Speaking on his appointment, Boidin expressed appreciation for the confidence placed in him by industry peers.

“I am honoured by the confidence reposed in me by my industry peers. With over three million jobs supported across the value chain, the beer sector plays a vital role in Nigeria’s manufacturing and economic ecosystem through investment, local value creation, responsible consumption, and sustainable contributions to government revenue,” he said.

He added that collaboration will be central to his leadership approach. “As Chairman, my focus will be to collaborate with MAN, government, and stakeholders to unlock category growth, enable fair competition, and foster a predictable fiscal environment where legitimate manufacturers can thrive,” Boidin stated.

Boidin brings extensive international leadership experience to the role, having worked across nine countries. He joined the HEINEKEN Group in 2017 as Deputy Managing Director of France Boissons, the company’s largest integrated distributor.

He later held Chief Transformation Officer roles in HEINEKEN France and HEINEKEN Europe.

Most recently, he served as Managing Director of HEINEKEN Romania, one of the group’s largest operations in Eastern Europe, before being appointed CEO of Nigerian Breweries Plc.

The Beer Sectoral Group acknowledged the contributions of outgoing Chairman Carlos Coutino, expressing gratitude for his service and leadership.

BSG serves as the collective voice of Nigeria’s beer manufacturing sector, representing major industry players including International Breweries, Nigerian Breweries and Guinness Nigeria.

The group focuses on policy advocacy, regulatory engagement and stakeholder collaboration to support sustainable industry development.
