The government is aiming to reach 20 tonnes per hectare by using new varieties developed through a research project with Nigerian partners.
Plans include a new quay and more than 20 hectares of container yard space, with phased commissioning scheduled from late 2026 to early 2028.
The European Union, a major market for Zimbabwe’s horticultural exports, is also providing technical support and funding through the European Investment Bank.
The partnership strengthens Maersk’s position in the e-commerce logistics sector.
The new 0.33-litre PET format uses rPET compatibility, detachable decoration and existing PET filling infrastructure to support scalable beverage packaging.
