The future of nutrition lies in understanding and harnessing the power of biotics – prebiotics, probiotics, postbiotics, and synbiotics – for gut health.

FRANCE – Danone has officially inaugurated its OneBiome Laboratory in Paris-Saclay, marking a significant step in its mission to advance science-based innovation and strengthen its leadership in gut health research.
The new laboratory will act as a global hub for microbiome science, nutrition, and digital health, reinforcing Danone’s position as a pioneer in shaping the future of food and health.
First introduced in Singapore with a focus on early life, the OneBiome Laboratory is designed to accelerate research into the gut microbiome and its influence on overall health.
Leveraging Danone’s century-long expertise, scientific data, clinical studies, and deep understanding of consumer needs, the lab aims to translate cutting-edge scientific insights into practical nutritional solutions.
This expansion also underscores the company’s commitment to combining advanced microbiology, artificial intelligence, and data science to develop targeted, evidence-based products.
Interest in gut health has grown significantly in recent decades, both within the scientific community and among consumers.
Studies show that only half of individuals believe they have a healthy microbiota, highlighting the importance of ongoing education and innovation in this field.
The OneBiome Laboratory is expected to address this need, offering research capabilities that will enhance Danone’s understanding of microbiome science and its application to human health.
“Science and innovation are at the heart of Danone’s mission to bring health through food to as many people as possible,” said Antoine de Saint-Affrique, CEO of Danone.
He described the laboratory’s launch as a new chapter in the company’s Renew Strategy, deepening capabilities in microbiome research and reinforcing leadership in science-driven health innovation.
Isabelle Esser, Chief Research & Innovation Officer, added, “We believe the future of nutrition lies in understanding and harnessing the power of biotics – prebiotics, probiotics, postbiotics, and synbiotics – for gut health.”
She emphasized Danone’s longstanding dedication to creating biotic-enriched products that address diverse health needs across all life stages.
The launch follows Danone’s acquisition of The Akkermansia Company, a specialist in microbiome-based gut health solutions, further strengthening its tailored nutrition offerings.
Iconic Danone brands, including Activia Fiber, Activia Proactive, and Actimel+ Triple Action, continue to innovate with formulations that reflect the company’s science-led approach.
The initiative also aims to foster collaborations, raise public awareness of microbiome science, and reinforce Danone’s commitment to providing science-backed, preventive nutritional solutions for consumers and patients worldwide.
