Diageo appoints Christopher Wangai Gitau as General Manager for Greece 

GREECE – Diageo has appointed Christopher Wangai Gitau as General Manager for Greece, effective 1 October 2025.  

In this role, he will report to Olena Neznal, Managing Director for Eastern and Central Europe. 

Gitau transitions from his position as Commercial Director at Serengeti Breweries Ltd (SBL), where he played a central role in leading a significant business turnaround over the past four years.  

Under his leadership, SBL achieved 20% net sales value growth in fiscal year 2025, driven by commercial strategy excellence, route-to-consumer transformation, innovation commercialisation and operational execution. 

With more than 25 years of experience in the fast-moving consumer goods sector, Gitau has held senior positions at East African Breweries Limited (EABL), Meta Abo Breweries Ethiopia, and Cooke International, delivering commercial transformation initiatives across Africa and Southeast Asia. 

At EABL, he spearheaded the KBL RTC transformation project with McKinsey, developing the “Gold Standard” programme still applied across the region.  

At SBL, he oversaw the rollout of digital commercial capabilities such as Edge and Diageo One, opened new export markets in four international territories and led successful innovation launches. 

Gitau also championed talent development and inclusion, founding the BREW Network to promote psychological safety, supporting female distributors’ access to funding and advancing ESG initiatives like Water for Life and Learning for Life. 

He holds an MBA in Business Strategy and a BA from the United States International University-Africa. Diageo leaders praised his contributions at SBL and his potential to shape Diageo’s future in Greece.
