GLOBAL – Doehler Group, a global Ingredient manufacturer, has acquired the Bangkok-based Boon flavour expanding its flavour portfolio in South Eastern Asia.
As part of this acquisition, Boon Flavors will be renamed as Döhler Thailand going forward and be managed by the company’s founder, Piya Boonnamkitsawad.
According to the ingredient manufacturer, the deal will enable the company to embrace ‘glocal’ and be at the forefront of innovation in dairy.
“‘Glocal’, where global trends are adapted to suit regional customs and preferences, is one of the main driving forces in the food and beverage industry,” Amit Waikar, Döhler Bangkok’s head of sales said.
“The acquisition of Boon flavours will further empower this adaptability, allowing us to seamlessly blend global trends with local preferences.”
Boon will specialize in premium flavours for the food, beverage, pet food and pharmaceutical industries in Thailand.
The company is particularly focused on tailoring global trends to produce ingredients with a regional twist and its flavors are derived from natural raw materials and agricultural products.
“Thailand is an attractive business destination for ingredient manufacturers, thanks to its unique position of embracing global trends while tailoring them to match the local palate,” Wakar added.
Consumers are looking for healthier and nutritional products that offer an exceptional multi-sensory experience.
He explained that superior taste is a perfect appearance and well-balanced mouthfeel and plays a significant role for consumers when choosing to buy products, ultimately guiding their preferences towards better human nutrition.
In addition, Waikar highlighted that dairy and dairy alternatives manufacturers are actively exploring a diverse range of flavour profiles and Dohler senses a business opportunity in this.
“We will merge our global flavour expertise with a distinctly Southeast Asian flair,” he said.
“Classical flavour profiles that have achieved global success, such as chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry, are now being paired with local tastes, forging new taste experiences which our customers are asking for.“
Earlier this year, Döhler Group announced its acquisition of SVZ, a producer of premium purees, concentrates and ingredients derived from sustainably sourced vegetables and red berries.
The acquisition aimed at strengthening Döhler’s position in the global market and expanding its portfolio of technology-driven natural ingredients, ingredient systems and integrated solutions.
In addition, the move strengthened Döhler’s portfolio of natural red fruit and vegetable ingredients, as well as its global market presence, particularly in the US and Japan.
