Equatorial Coca-Cola expands production in Morocco with new production lines

The beverage bottler boosts production capacity in Morocco and enhances digital engagement in Ghana with a revamped online marketplace.

MOROCCO – Equatorial Coca-Cola Bottling Company (ECCBC), the authorized bottler for The Coca-Cola Company in West and North Africa, has inaugurated two new production lines at its Nouaceur plant in Morocco.

According to local reports, the expansion represents a total investment of 715 million dirhams (US$77.6 million). Company officials noted that the new lines, which will manufacture both carbonated soft drinks and bottled water, are expected to increase the facility’s annual production capacity by 40%.

The investment underscores ECCBC’s strategy to expand its footprint in Morocco’s competitive soft drink market, which is projected to reach US1.1 billion by the end of 2025. Market data from Statista forecasts an annual growth rate of 3.02% through 2030.

“This project reflects and strengthens the Coca-Cola system’s historic commitment to Morocco, a country where our teams and our future are deeply rooted,” said Farid Benchekroun, General Manager of ECCBC Morocco.

“With these new lines, we reinforce our local capacity, create new jobs, and invest in Moroccan talent while supporting the country’s vision for a more sustainable and innovative industry.”

The development follows ECCBC’s recent expansion efforts in Ghana. In July, the company announced an agreement to acquire Voltic (GH) Limited and West African Refreshments Limited (WARL), two carbonated soft drink manufacturers operating in the West African nation.

While the financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed, the move significantly boosts ECCBC’s production capacity in Ghana.

Founded in Equatorial Guinea in 1989, ECCBC now operates in 13 countries across West and North Africa, serving as one of Coca-Cola’s major regional partners.

Meanwhile, the Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Ghana Limited (TCCBC), a subsidiary of ECCBC, relaunched its digital platform, MySmartCoke, earlier this month to enhance customer convenience.

The redesigned marketplace, developed in collaboration with local technology firm Adroit 360, offers an integrated online shopping experience for Coca-Cola beverages, Voltic Natural Mineral Water, and other premium drinks from Imexco.

The upgraded platform includes a Smart Event Planner AI that allows users to coordinate with DJs, caterers, decorators, and venues, while also providing promotional bundles and free doorstep delivery in major cities.
