CarbonLite pouches maintain aroma and freshness while providing a reliable, sustainable alternative to standard laminates.

GERMANY – Hesser Packaging and SÜDPACK have introduced an innovative packaging solution for whole coffee beans and ground coffee at Interpack, ideal for the Middle East and Africa markets.
The stable stand-up pouches from the CarbonLite range are made from PP-based monomaterials, ensuring over 90% recyclability while maintaining barriers to oxygen, moisture, and UV light.
For coffee producers, this technology aligns with the latest Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation principles by replacing traditional non-recyclable laminates, such as PET/Alu/PE.
In addition, CarbonLite materials are lightweight and significantly reduce the carbon footprint compared with conventional options, helping businesses meet new environmental standards without compromising product quality.
The pouches preserve coffee freshness without aluminium, thanks to an advanced PP-based mono-material construction.
Therefore, optimized oxygen and water vapour barriers ensure a long shelf life and protect aroma, while reliable sealing performance enables the integration of aroma protection valves into the sealing process.
Hesser will showcase the PMX 4001 vertical flow pack machine, specifically engineered for coffee packaging. The compact machine delivers up to 65 pouches per minute with reliable 24/7 operation, accommodating various pouch formats and sealing techniques while ensuring superior seam quality.
Key features include extended evacuation times for a deep vacuum to preserve product aroma and high weight accuracy during fast filling.
Moreover, smart capabilities such as IO-Link and Synexio integration provide real-time data for process optimization and predictive maintenance. The PMX 4001’s open design allows access from all four sides, streamlining cleaning and reducing changeover times.
Hesser Packaging has operated as an independent subsidiary of Syntegon since February 2026, continuing a 165-year legacy of innovation. The company’s primary focus remains on developing new machines for the primary packaging of dry foods such as coffee, flour, and sugar.
On the other hand, SÜDPACK offers a range of printing options, including rotogravure, flexo, digital, and 7-colour printing, for an appealing point-of-sale presentation.
As a result, this partnership demonstrates that technological innovation in machinery and material science is vital for meeting new environmental standards in the global food sector.
