The partnership aims to enhance sourcing, product innovation, and global growth while maintaining operations and executive management in the UK.

UK – Indian tea conglomerate Luxmi Group has acquired a majority stake in UK-based Brew Tea Co. for an undisclosed sum.
The acquisition was finalised in June 2025, with co-founders Phil and Aideen Kirby retaining a 20% share in the company, according to a joint statement issued by both parties.
Founded in Manchester in 2012, Brew Tea Co. offers a range of premium loose-leaf teas and tea bags, including English Breakfast, Earl Grey, Assam, and herbal infusions such as lemon and ginger and apple and blackberry.
The brand is known for its commitment to quality and whole-leaf tea, boasting a loyal customer base of around 10,000 subscribers throughout the UK. The company also supplies major retailers including Waitrose, Sainsbury’s, and Ocado.
The co-founders emphasized that daily operations, executive management, and existing business roles at Brew Tea Co. will remain unchanged following the transaction.
“We’re proud of how close we are to our customers—their loyalty has built Brew Tea Co.,” said co-founder Phil Kirby. “With Luxmi, we can now take that same customer promise even further, with better access to exceptional teas.”
Luxmi Group, a family-owned company established in 1912, operates 20 tea estates across India—in Assam, West Bengal, and Tripura—and manages four estates in Rwanda. The group sells its teas globally and, like Brew Tea Co., offers a subscription-based model.
Luxmi Group managing director Rudra Chatterjee stated, “As India celebrates its bicentennial of tea grown first in Assam, we are honoured to help bring the traditional craft that made Indian tea world-famous back into global focus.”
The two companies plan to collaborate on ethical sourcing, maintain their shared focus on whole-leaf quality using only rolled leaves, and enhance their digital subscription offerings by combining convenience with authentic craftsmanship.
Both firms see the partnership as a strategic move to strengthen relationships at origin and drive international growth.
