The modernization plan is expected to create around 3,500 new construction jobs, and also allow the company to come up with and sell new products faster.

U.S.A. – Kraft Heinz has announced a major investment of US$3bn to modernise its 30 manufacturing sites across the United States, marking its largest such commitment in a decade and reinforcing its broader efforts to strengthen operations and market reach.
The commitment includes a previously announced US$400 million allocation from July 2023 for a fully automated, 775,000-square-foot distribution center in DeKalb, Illinois, aimed at enhancing supply chain efficiency.
Helen Davis, Kraft Heinz’s SVP and head of North America operations, described the initiative as a new standard for operational excellence in the Consumer Packaged Goods sector, accelerating their ambition to build the supply chain of the future.
“I couldn’t be prouder,” she remarked.
Navigating market and tariff pressures
The announcement comes at a time when consumer demand is reportedly at its second-lowest point in 70 years, with the company recently lowering annual forecasts over US tariff volatility.
Kraft Heinz is among those affected by a 10% levy on all imported goods imposed last month, particularly on items like coffee.
In an interview with Reuters, Pedro Navio, President of North America at Kraft Heinz, explained that the investment is part of a strategic approach to offset these external pressures. “It goes beyond just efficiencies or dealing with the current tariff challenges,” he said.
The modernization plan is expected to create around 3,500 new construction jobs, and also allow the company to come up with and sell new products faster.
Nearly all of what Kraft Heinz sells in the U.S. is manufactured domestically, including iconic products such as Heinz ketchup, Kraft macaroni and cheese, and Philadelphia cream cheese.
The company also sources key ingredients locally, growing its tomatoes in California and potatoes in Idaho, reinforcing its commitment to US-based production.
In light of ongoing cost pressures, Kraft Heinz has also asked suppliers to provide a 60-day notice before implementing any price increases, signalling an effort to maintain pricing stability where possible.
HEINZ expansion of brand reach
As part of its broader growth strategy, Kraft Heinz is also expanding its “Away From Home” business, launching HEINZ Verified, a new program that identifies restaurants serving genuine HEINZ products.
The initiative is designed to spotlight quality in the dining-out experience while helping restaurants thrive in a competitive landscape.
“By introducing HEINZ Verified, we want to help restaurants succeed so communities can thrive – delivering quality and value for both restaurants and individuals through meaningful, best-in-class products and experiences,” said Peter Hall, President of Elevation, North America at Kraft Heinz.
In partnership with Uber Eats, the program is being rolled out in cities including Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles, Miami, and Pittsburgh.
HEINZ Verified restaurants will receive marketing support, product samples, branded merchandise, and access to consumer insights, all aimed at driving traffic and reinforcing brand trust.
“This exciting new partnership with HEINZ spotlights restaurants on the Uber Eats platform across the country serving the products people know and crave,” said Alex DiValerio, Head of Restaurant Operations, North America at Uber.
