Thibaut Boidin to replace Hans Essaadi as Nigerian Breweries CEO, following a record-breaking tenure and strategic transformation.
NIGERIA – Nigerian Breweries Plc has announced the appointment of Thibaut Boidin as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective July 1, 2025.
Boidin will take over from Hans Essaadi, who will step down from the role on June 30, 2025.
The announcement was made in a corporate disclosure submitted to the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) Limited on Thursday. According to the company, Essaadi is set to assume a new position as the Managing Director of Heineken Poland.
Essaadi joined Nigerian Breweries as Managing Director/CEO on July 31, 2021. His tenure was defined by major milestones, most notably the delivery of a net revenue exceeding N1 trillion during a period marked by economic volatility in Nigeria.
Under his leadership, the company navigated foreign exchange constraints, surging inflation, and liquidity challenges while maintaining operational stability.
One of the highlights of his term was the successful execution of a N550 billion Rights Issue, which stands as the largest equity capital raise in the history of the Nigerian capital market.
He also oversaw the implementation of a business recovery plan aimed at securing the company’s long-term growth and financial resilience.
Boidin brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He currently serves as the Managing Director of Heineken Romania, one of Heineken’s key operations in Eastern Europe.
Since joining the Heineken Group in 2017, he has held various senior roles including Deputy CEO of France Boissons, Chief Transformation Officer of Heineken France, and Chief Transformation Officer for Heineken Europe based in Amsterdam.
Before his corporate career, Boidin served in the French Armed Forces across multiple continents. He later transitioned into executive leadership roles in French companies such as Elis and Veolia.
Boidin is expected to leverage his international experience to build on the foundation laid by his predecessor.
