Novonesis will target high-value opportunities in functional food proteins, biopharma processing aids, and future fuels and chemicals, while continuing to deepen its leadership in core food biosolutions.

DENMARK – Novonesis posted 9% organic sales growth in the first half of 2025, driven by robust demand for its biosolutions portfolio, particularly in food and health markets.
The company has raised the lower end of its full-year guidance to 6–8% organic sales growth while maintaining an adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) margin of 37–38% despite significant currency headwinds and macroeconomic pressures.
Food & Health biosolutions delivered standout performance with 10% organic growth in the first half of 2025 (9% in the second quarter), reflecting rising demand for tailored nutritional and functional solutions across multiple customer segments.
Planetary Health biosolutions also rose 9% (7% in the second quarter), supported by momentum in sustainable agriculture, feed, and environmental applications.
Emerging markets led with 12% organic growth, outpacing developed markets at 8%, demonstrating Novonesis’ ability to capture opportunities in high-growth regions and adapt quickly to shifting market dynamics.
Profitability strengthened, with the adjusted EBITDA margin up 210 basis points to 37.4%, and adjusted net profit increasing 23%.
Cost synergies from the recent combination have reached a full 100% run rate. At the same time, the acquisition of dsm-firmenich’s share of the Feed Enzyme Alliance further expands Novonesis’ feed and food capabilities, positioning the company for continued share gains.
The company also announced its ‘GROW’ strategy and long-term financial targets through 2030, aiming for an organic sales compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6–9%, an adjusted EBITDA margin near 39%, and an adjusted return on invested capital (ROIC) of approximately 16%.
Growth will be driven by both Food & Health and Planetary Health divisions, supported by significant reinvestment in innovation, market development, and production scale.
Novonesis will target high-value opportunities in functional food proteins, biopharmaceutical processing aids, and future fuels and chemicals, while continuing to deepen its leadership in core food biosolutions such as probiotics, enzymes, and specialty cultures.
“We are clearly on track to meet our 2025 targets and accelerate beyond them,” said Ester Baiget, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). “Strong global demand for biosolutions, especially in food and health, positions Novonesis to deliver sustainable value for customers, shareholders, and society.”
Development investments, including a new enterprise resource planning (ERP) system and expanded global production capacity, will support both near-term growth and long-term strategic flexibility, enabling the company to meet rising customer demand worldwide with greater efficiency and resilience.
