Oxano Capital invests in Zambia’s Zamgoat to expand goat meat processing and exports

Company targets regional and Middle East markets

ZAMBIA – Oxano Capital has confirmed an equity investment in Zamgoat, a Zambia-headquartered company specialising in goat meat processing and value addition across southern Africa.

The Netherlands-based firm focuses on opportunities in sub-Saharan Africa and said the transaction forms part of its strategy to support agribusiness ventures operating in formalising and scaling agricultural value chains.

Zamgoat was established in July 2012 with the objective of moving goat trading away from largely informal channels into a structured commercial system built around processing, branding and wider market access.

Since its launch, the company has developed a model that sources goats from smallholder farmers, processes them into packaged and branded meat products, and distributes the output through retail stores, food service operators and its own consumer-facing labels.

Expansion beyond Zambia

While its operations are rooted in Zambia, Zamgoat has indicated plans to supply neighbouring markets, including the Democratic Republic of Congo, Angola and Rwanda, in response to growing demand for goat meat products.

The company is also pursuing export opportunities in the Middle East as part of a broader strategy to diversify revenue streams beyond its domestic base.

Zamgoat describes itself as an agribusiness enterprise focused on commercialising the goat value chain by linking rural producers to formal markets while generating income across multiple stages of production and processing.

In addition to meat processing, the firm is expanding across the value chain through vertical integration that covers demand side activities such as prepared meat products, culinary services, goat leather processing and dairy-related products.

On the supply side, the business provides farmers with advisory services, access to animal health inputs, feed and breeding stock to support productivity and consistency of supply.

The company operates as Zamgoat Products Limited, a private company limited by shares that is incorporated in the Republic of Zambia.
