The facility is expected to generate more than 630 jobs once operational.

USA – Pilgrim’s Pride Corporation has started building a new prepared foods facility in Walker County, Georgia, following its US$400 million expansion announcement in July.
The plant, located in the Walker County Business Park, will operate in multiple phases and produce fully cooked chicken items for both retail and foodservice channels under brands including Just Bare, Pilgrim’s, and Gold Kist.
CEO Fabio Sandri described the project as a demonstration of the company’s long-term commitment to the Walker County area and its growth plans in the United States.
Construction work is scheduled to commence this fall, with recruitment for the first phase of the 300,000-square-foot facility expected in 2027.
Local officials highlighted the economic significance of the project during the groundbreaking event, emphasizing the job opportunities it will provide.
LaFayette Mayor Andy Arnold said the creation of over 630 positions will have a major effect on families in the surrounding communities.
Angie Teems, chairwoman and CEO of Walker County government, noted that the investment offers residents a chance for stable employment close to home.
Misti Martin, Deputy Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Economic Development, added that the Walker County Business Park project illustrates how targeted investments can bring work opportunities to local residents.
Currently, Pilgrim’s Pride supports around 7,500 jobs across Georgia through seven production plants, feed mills, and hatcheries.
The company also plans to extend its Hometown Strong and Better Futures programs to Walker County, providing community development projects and education benefits for team members and their families.
Hometown Strong initiatives include funding for local community centers, schools, sports facilities, childcare programs, and parks, while Better Futures offers free community college tuition to employees and their children.
As part of its community engagement, Pilgrim’s is donating over 700 pounds of chicken wings, tenders, and breasts to Pie Slingers, a local restaurant, to support families in need.
Sandri stated that the donation reflects the company’s approach to assisting communities during challenging periods, particularly around the holiday season.
