These statistics collectively illustrate a positive trend in trade volume and operational efficiency for Qatar’s maritime infrastructure.

QATAR – Qatari ports handled more than 78,000 TEUs in June 2026, a 13% increase compared to May, while vessel arrivals rose 21% to 121 vessels, according to data released by Mwani Qatar.
The ports also handled nearly 23,000 tonnes of general cargo and over 67,000 tonnes of bulk cargo, a 40% increase in May.
The substantial rise in vessel arrivals and the double-digit increase in container handling reflect a robust period for regional logistics. Bulk material transport saw the most dramatic growth across all cargo categories.
Container and Bulk Cargo Performance
Container handling rose 13% to more than 78,000 TEUs in June, signalling strong demand for manufactured and consumer goods through Qatari ports. General cargo remained steady at nearly 23,000 tonnes, while bulk cargo surged 40% to over 67,000 tonnes.
The dramatic growth in bulk materials, including commodities such as grain, cement, and industrial raw materials, reflects increased construction activity and food-security imports.
In addition, the 13% increase in container handling indicates growing capacity for refrigerated containers moving through Qatar’s ports. The rise in bulk cargo also suggests increased imports of essential food commodities, supporting the country’s food security objectives.
Vessel Arrivals and Operational Efficiency
Vessel arrivals rose by 21% to 121 in June 2026, compared with May, reflecting improved port utilization and shipping activity. The surge in traffic was accompanied by gains in operational efficiency, as ports handled higher volumes without a proportional rise in congestion or delays.
Therefore, these statistics collectively illustrate a positive trend in trade volume and operational efficiency for Qatar’s maritime infrastructure.
Furthermore, Qatar’s June port figures demonstrate growing capacity for handling refrigerated and perishable cargo. The 13% container growth and 40% surge in bulk cargo reflect increased trade activity across multiple sectors while the 21% rise in vessel arrivals indicates improved port utilization without congestion.
As Mwani Qatar continues to enhance operational efficiency, the nation’s ports are positioned to handle growing volumes of both containerized and bulk cargo, supporting Qatar’s economic diversification and trade connectivity goals.
Finally, the overall trends point to a period of accelerated growth for Qatar’s international shipping sector.
