Spearhead Spirits launches South Africa’s “first” bar-strength RTD cocktails

Spearhead Spirits introduces its new bar-strength cocktail range across major retail outlets.

SOUTH AFRICA – Patch, described as South Africa’s first bar-strength ready-to-drink (RTD) cocktail brand, has officially rolled out in more than 100 Checkers stores nationwide.

The new offering aims to combine premium cocktail quality with a portable, stylish format designed for modern consumers seeking convenience without compromising flavour.

Developed by Spearhead Spirits, the company behind Vusa Vodka, Sango Agave, Mansas Whisky and Bayab Gin, Patch was created to provide cocktails that are as easy to carry as beer and as refined as bar-served drinks.

Each can contains a bartender-crafted recipe made with premium ingredients and balanced to traditional cocktail strength.

Chris Frederick, director at Spearhead Spirits, said the brand sets a new benchmark for South Africa’s RTD sector. “With Patch, we’re raising the bar for ready-to-drink cocktails in South Africa. Until now, there’s been nothing on shelves that truly delivered both the quality and strength of a proper cocktail. Patch is here to change that; it’s cocktails without compromise, designed for good times, wherever they happen,” he said.

Patch debuts with a range of signature cocktails, including Margarita, Paloma, Espresso Martini, Old Fashioned, Mojito and Negroni.

The launch expands Spearhead Spirits’ growing portfolio, which continues to gain traction both locally and internationally.

In April, Spearhead Spirits secured an undisclosed investment aimed at accelerating its global expansion and strengthening its presence in the United States.

Founded in 2021 by Frederick and Damola Timeyin, the company was established on the vision that Africa should hold a prominent place in the global spirits industry.

The group’s products are now distributed in more than 10 markets, including the US, Nigeria and South Africa. Its spirits have also been listed in high-profile locations such as Disney’s Animal Kingdom in Florida and the Four Seasons Hotel in Johannesburg.

To date, Spearhead Spirits has sold hundreds of thousands of bottles and generated millions of dollars in revenue.
