Tanmiah Food Company makes chicken supply deal with McDonald’s Saudi Arabia

Poultry producer expands capacity to meet demand for bigger birds in QSR sector

SAUDI ARABIA – Tanmiah Food Company is working with McDonald’s Saudi Arabia to increase the supply of locally raised poultry, focusing on larger chickens required for processing in quick-service restaurants.

The collaboration aims to meet rising demand for processed chicken in the region, particularly from McDonald’s outlets that rely on consistent, high-volume poultry supplies.

Raising bigger birds in Saudi Arabia has typically been difficult due to the hot climate and farming conditions, but Tanmiah has introduced controlled-environment systems and strict biosecurity protocols to manage this challenge.

The company has now positioned itself as the only supplier in the region consistently producing large chickens that meet food safety and quality requirements for further processing.

This development allows McDonald’s Saudi Arabia to reduce dependence on poultry imports and instead rely on domestic sources for its chicken menu items.

The partnership also aligns with Saudi Arabia’s broader push to enhance food self-sufficiency under Vision 2030, which includes expanding local agricultural output.

Tanmiah is considering growth plans within Saudi Arabia to support the expected increase in supply volumes to McDonald’s and possibly to other foodservice clients.

Prince Majed Fahed Al Saud, Co-CEO of McDonald’s Saudi Arabia, said the partnership supports local suppliers and is aligned with national goals to build domestic production capacity.

He added that the collaboration ensures quality and food safety standards are maintained throughout the supply chain.

Zulfiqar Hamadani, CEO of Tanmiah Food Company, said the deal is part of a broader effort to scale up local protein production and build a more resilient food supply system.

He also noted that the agreement contributes to strengthening sustainability practices and improving food security across the Kingdom.

The companies said their cooperation with Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture played a key role in enabling the partnership.
