TANZANIA- Silverlands, a renowned Tanzanian poultry company, is aiming to deliver an impressive 7.3 million day-old chicks annually by integrating Royal Pas Reform technologies into its hatchery operation in Arusha.
This move, which is meant to expand the company’s production capacity, has seen the company plan to enhance its facilities with state-of-the-art equipment, including SmartSetPro™4 setters and SmartHatchPro™ hatchers.
This will be implemented along with a complete climate control system, advanced process control, and data management systems.
Adriaen Sligcher, Pas Reform’s Sales Director in Southern Africa, expressed gratitude for the guidance provided by Royal Pas Reform’s Stewart Bradnick and his team, resulting in a top-notch hatchery project.
“We were very grateful for the guidance of Royal Pas Reform’s Stewart Bradnick and his team, which resulted in a first-class hatchery project. Without doubt, we will see a further extension in the near future,” he added.
He also emphasized on the fact that this technological upgrade is expected to pave the way for further expansion in the near future.
Established in 2013 to cater to Tanzania’s increasing demand for quality poultry products at affordable prices, Silverlands operates two distinct units: a poultry and feed business, and a cropping business.
The poultry farm includes a feed mill, hatchery, and poultry houses, producing three different varieties of day-old chicks for the commercial market in Tanzania.
To ensure optimal results, the company imports broiler and layer breeder stocks from internationally recognized suppliers, providing farmers with day-old chicks equipped with the latest genetics.
Also, the company has secured exclusive distribution rights for the SASSO bird in Tanzania, a dual-purpose, slower-maturing chicken.
By distributing SASSO day-old chicks, Silverlands aims to improve genetics for small-scale rural farmers while offering technical assistance, training, and access to previously inaccessible markets.
The increased production capacity at Silverlands’ hatchery will complement the growing demand for chicken in the market, offering significant opportunities for growth in the country’s poultry sub-sector.
