Tyson Foods to invest US$23.5M in expanding meat production at its Henderson County plant
Company invests US$23.5 million to upgrade Kentucky facility and retain over 1,100 jobs
USA – Tyson Foods is investing US$23.5 million to expand and modernise its meat processing facility in Robards, Henderson County, Kentucky.
The project includes installation of new equipment and upgrades to the plant’s infrastructure to improve production efficiency and increase its ability to offer a wider range of protein products.
Construction is expected to begin before the end of the year, with the facility enhancements scheduled for completion by spring 2026.
Tyson confirmed that the investment will help maintain more than 1,100 existing jobs at the plant, which has been operating in the region for several decades.
The company, which was founded in 1935, produces a variety of protein products under brands such as Tyson, Hillshire Farm, and Jimmy Dean.
Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear welcomed the expansion plans, linking them to the growth of the state’s food and agriculture industries in recent years.
He noted that Tyson’s operations in the state go back over 30 years and described the project as part of a broader pattern of private sector investment across Kentucky.
According to the governor’s office, nearly 1,200 business expansion or new facility projects have been announced since the beginning of Beshear’s administration.
These projects have amounted to around US$36 billion in total investment and led to the creation of close to 62,000 new jobs.
Tyson’s announcement also comes with support from the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority, which approved an incentive package through the Kentucky Reinvestment Act.
The agreement could grant Tyson up to US$3 million in tax incentives based on its capital investment and commitment to job retention.
Agriculture Commissioner Jonathan Shell said the development shows continued confidence in Kentucky’s workforce and the long-term potential of the agriculture sector.
Henderson County Judge/Executive Brad Schneider said Tyson has been a key player in the community and the project is expected to have a positive local impact.
