UAE’s Souq Al Jubail reports increasing footfall as more meat, fresh produce shoppers visit

UAE – Souq Al Jubail in Kalba is drawing growing numbers of shoppers to its meat section, with over 400,000 people visiting the market in the first six months of 2025.

The meat section includes 16 outlets offering various meat and poultry products, all of which are equipped with refrigeration and storage systems to ensure freshness and hygiene.

This section forms part of the wider market layout that spans 33,000 square metres and was opened to the public in 2023.

In addition to the meat section, the market houses two other key areas: the fish section and the fruits and vegetables section.

The fish area features 22 shops and an indoor auction space where fresh seafood is sold directly to customers and vendors.

The fruits and vegetables area accommodates 31 shops offering seasonal produce and imported goods to meet diverse dietary needs.

All three sections are built around a central courtyard, with the indoor auction space providing an additional point of attraction for seafood buyers.

Hilal Al Naqbi, Manager of Eastern Region Markets, stated that the high turnout is linked to the variety and quality of goods on offer under one roof.

He explained that the market has helped stimulate the economy in Kalba and the broader Eastern Region by offering a reliable and consistent outlet for fresh food supplies.

According to Al Naqbi, ongoing upgrades are being implemented to improve infrastructure and maintain a clean, safe shopping space for all users.

He also noted that the market’s layout and operations are designed to cater to families, residents, and tourists visiting from other parts of the UAE.

Located in the Al Baha’is area of Kalba, the building’s Islamic design elements and detailed finishes reflect local architectural traditions.

The market is operated by Sharjah Asset Management, which manages several investment projects on behalf of the Government of Sharjah.

Souq Al Jubail continues to serve as a central hub for food shopping in the Eastern Region, offering a blend of fresh produce and specialised services.

By mid-2025, it has become a regular stop for residents and visitors seeking quality products in a structured retail environment.
