ROHA strengthens global natural colors position with Tebracc acquisition

The company aims to combine Tebracc’s expertise in annatto with its own global portfolio, which includes natural pigments for beverages, confectionery, dairy, and pet food.

INDIA – Global food color solutions company ROHA Group has acquired Tebracc, one of Brazil’s natural color manufacturers, in a strategic move that consolidates its position in the natural ingredients sector.

The deal marks a significant step in ROHA’s efforts to expand its global expertise in natural color innovation while reinforcing supply chain resilience at a time when demand for clean-label, plant-based solutions continues to surge.

Tebracc was founded in 1988 and has built a reputation in Brazil for its extraction and production of annatto and other natural pigments used across food and beverage formulations.

The company operates from a 5,500 m² facility and reportedly processes up to 2,000 tons of annatto annually, serving major food manufacturers across Brazil. Its business also extends into natural dyes for condiments and spices.

By integrating Tebracc’s heritage and technical know-how with its own international portfolio, ROHA gains access to a more reliable supply of raw materials, stronger backward integration, and an expanded production capacity in Brazil, one of the world’s most important hubs for natural pigment sourcing and processing.

For ROHA, this acquisition represents not just growth but strategic alignment with shifting consumer preferences.

Food and beverage brands are increasingly seeking sustainable and high-performing natural pigments as alternatives to synthetic additives, and ROHA is positioning itself to meet this rising demand.

The company aims to combine Tebracc’s expertise in annatto with its own global portfolio, which includes natural pigments for beverages, confectionery, dairy, and pet food via its Natracol brand.

Its portfolio already includes solutions based on beetroot, spirulina, curcumin, and other natural sources, and Tebracc’s addition enhances both the scale and diversity of its offering.

ROHA Managing Director Mahesh Tibrewala described the deal as a “new step forward” in the company’s long-term vision.

He noted that customers today expect not only innovative and high-performing color solutions but also confidence in supply chain stability.

“By welcoming Tebracc into the ROHA family, we are strengthening our leadership in natural colors and ensuring we can support customer ambitions today and for decades to come,” Tibrewala said.

He further emphasized that the move goes beyond expanding market share as a transformational step, underscoring how the partnership will reinforce the company’s role as a global innovation partner.

With Tebracc now integrated into the ROHA network, the combined entity is well-positioned to support food, beverage, nutraceutical, and pet food brands with a stronger, more diverse, and resilient supply of natural color solutions.
