Gradus’ subsidiary acquires poultry production complex in US$3.5M expansion drive in Bulgaria

USA – Bulgarian poultry producer Gradus has announced that its subsidiary, Millennium 2000, has acquired a large poultry production complex near the coastal city of Burgas as part of its expansion strategy in the chicken sector.

The facility, located in the village of Cherni Vrah, spans around 75.4 acres and is considered one of the largest poultry production sites in Bulgaria.

According to a company filing, the complex includes 24 land properties and 143 buildings, with a total built-up area of approximately 80,000 square metres.

It also contains more than 60 production halls and over 67,000 square metres of dedicated production space.

Gradus did not disclose the financial terms of the acquisition or the identity of the previous owner.

The company said the new facility has the technical capacity to raise more than 1.4 million broilers per production cycle, with annual output potential exceeding 8 million birds.

Expansion strategy targets higher poultry output

The acquisition is expected to increase Gradus’ chicken production capacity by more than 50% and improve operational efficiency by better leveraging existing infrastructure.

The company describes the deal as its largest capacity expansion in the past eight years and as part of a wider strategy to strengthen its position in the poultry market.

The transaction follows another investment announced in May, when Gradus approved a US$3.5 million project to construct a new broiler breeding centre at its poultry meat plant in Stara Zagora.

That earlier investment is aimed at further expanding production capabilities and reinforcing the company’s integrated poultry supply chain in Bulgaria.
