The scope of the new agreement includes the initial export of 40 tonnes, with plans for volume growth.

ARMENIA – Armenia plans to start exporting up to 40 tonnes of fruit and vegetables to the United Arab Emirates from September, with the potential to increase volumes later as cooperation develops.
The initial agreement provides for the development of Armenian agricultural exports to the UAE. Further volume growth is also planned as cooperation develops.
The shipments are linked to the Watermelon Ecosystem, a digital marketplace that connects restaurants, suppliers, and producers and allows them to conduct transactions online.
The Watermelon Ecosystem platform facilitates these international exports by serving as a digital bridge between Armenian farmers and commercial buyers in the UAE. This platform reduces intermediaries and enables more efficient trade between the two countries.
Beyond simple trade, the partnership explores investment opportunities to modernize Armenia’s production capabilities. By fostering these international connections, the initiative aims to establish a permanent logistics pipeline for high-quality fruits and vegetables.
In addition, the parties also discussed potential investment projects in Armenia to expand export opportunities and connect Armenian producers with buyers in the UAE and other countries. The scope of the new agreement includes the initial export of 40 tonnes, with plans for volume growth.
The strategic trade agreement aims to strengthen Armenian agriculture’s presence in the Gulf region by steadily increasing supply volumes. By creating a digital marketplace connection and exploring investment opportunities, Armenia is positioning itself as a reliable supplier of fresh produce to the UAE market.
The agreement marks a significant step forward for Armenia’s agricultural export sector and for its integration into Gulf markets. The potential for volume growth and investment projects suggests that this is the start of a longer-term trade relationship that could transform Armenia’s agricultural export landscape.
Focusing on establishing direct producer-buyer connections and modernizing production capabilities positions Armenia to compete effectively in the Gulf fresh produce market. The initiative’s success will depend on maintaining quality standards, building reliable supply chains, and developing the logistics infrastructure needed to support sustained export growth.
Finally, as Armenia positions itself as a reliable supplier of high-quality fresh produce to the Gulf region, this agreement marks a foundational step towards that goal. The focus on digital solutions and direct buyer-producer relationships reflects modern trade practices that can help Armenian exporters compete effectively in global markets.
