AGL Madagascar installs 51 oversized modules in integrated logistics operation

MADAGASCAR – AGL Madagascar has successfully installed 51 oversized prefabricated modules, demonstrating a fully integrated logistics framework that combines port handling, comprehensive customs clearance, abnormal road freight, and heavy-lift manoeuvres across one of the island nation’s most challenging transport corridors.
The prefabricated structures, measuring up to 17.2 metres in length and 4.65 metres in width, arrived by sea and were expertly handled at Toamasina, the principal commercial port.
Upon arrival, the specialized logistics teams at AGL Madagascar managed port operations and streamlined customs clearance, ensuring rapid dispatch while maintaining strict compliance with international maritime standards and national transport regulations.
Route Planning and Heavy-Haul Transport
AGL Madagascar conducted detailed route surveys to assess road geometry, overhead clearance constraints, slope gradients, and structural load limits along the highway corridor.
Additionally, customized multi-axle trailers and heavy-haul transport vehicles were deployed to accommodate the cargo’s unique physical footprint.
The four-day overland transit required meticulous operational coordination and continuous real-time monitoring. Through precise engineering planning and close collaboration with local authorities and highway infrastructure specialists, the convoy successfully traversed the bridge and the route without disrupting local traffic flow or compromising structural integrity.
Precision Installation and Project Completion
The complex industrial campaign culminated in July 2026 at the final project site in Antananarivo, where heavy-lift specialists oversaw the unlashing, offloading, and structural positioning of the 51 prefabricated units.
To achieve precise placement, AGL Madagascar deployed high-capacity mobile plant, including 130-tonne and 250-tonne cranes.
Working under rigorous Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) protocols, the crane operators and technical rigging teams positioned each module into its final alignment to exact engineering tolerances.
