AGRANA expands with new AGENAPURE starches derived from European raw materials

These starches are designed to meet the evolving needs of the food manufacturing industry, offering a neutral flavor profile.

AUSTRIA – AGRANA, a company specialising in starch and sugar production, has launched a new line of clean-label starches called AGENAPURE, expanding its portfolio.

The new product line underscores the company’s commitment to address the demand for clean-label ingredients, which is said to be at an all-time high.

Designed to meet the evolving needs of the food manufacturing industry, the high-performance starches are derived from European-grown raw materials.

The company stated that they offer an excellent balance between functionality, versatility, and cost-effectiveness.

AGENAPURE starches have a neutral flavour profile and exceptional thickening and texturising capabilities. They also have broad application flexibility in sauces, dressings, bake-stable fillings, and yoghurts.

Horst Hartl, CEO of AGRANA Starch, said, “Clean label is no longer a niche; it’s the new norm. AGENAPURE offers our customers a smart and scalable solution that supports clean label formulation without sacrificing functionality.”

Additionally, AGRANA offers a variety of other starch-based ingredients, including some that can improve the texture, structure, and protein content of meat alternatives.

The company added that it has also developed ingredients that elevate the taste and texture of vegan baked goods.

Hartl stated that indulgence is a top priority for every consumer. He emphasised that AGRANA continuously works on improving texture, taste, and aroma in its products.

He noted that consumers are increasingly attentive to ingredients, making the development of label-friendly options an important focus for the company.

Agrana and Ingredion partnership in Romania

Recently, Agrana Stärke, a subsidiary of Austria’s Agrana Beteiligungs-AG, entered into a joint venture agreement with Ingredion, marking a new step in the evolution of starch production.

This collaboration will see Ingredion acquiring a 49% stake in AGFD Tandarei SRL from Agrana. This strategic alliance will not only bolster Agrana’s production capabilities in Romania but also enhance Ingredion’s footprint in the European market.

Stephan Büttner, CEO of Agrana Beteiligungs-AG, said: “We want to drive our growth in Europe by entering into a joint venture, and we believe Ingredion is the ideal partner for this.

He noted that the collaboration leverages the distinct expertise of both companies in starch production, aligning with Agrana’s broader strategy, dubbed ‘Next Level,’ which aims to enhance its commodity and speciality business segments.
