Aldi extends Scottish pork supply deal with Browns Food Group for three years

Partnership aims to secure long-term sourcing stability for local pig producers.

UK – Aldi has renewed its Scottish pork supply arrangement for an additional 3 years, maintaining its partnership with Browns Food Group to deliver fresh primary pork across its operations in Scotland.

The retailer confirmed that the agreement will cover all 113 of its Scottish stores, with the supply focused on locally sourced pork products produced in collaboration with Scottish farmers.

The company stated that the extension reflects its continued sourcing strategy centred on Scottish-assured meat, which remains a key component of its fresh meat offering in the region.

Industry data referenced by the National Farmers’ Union Scotland in its 2025 to 2026 ShelfWatch report showed that Aldi was the first supermarket to list fresh primary Scottish pork, while also recording one of the highest Scottish pork sourcing rates among retailers at 41%.

Under the renewed arrangement, Browns Food Group will continue to supply a range of pork products, including chops, fillets, loin medallions, shoulder steaks, shoulder joints, and mince with 5% fat content.

Aldi Scotland buying director Alan Leslie said the extension strengthens the retailer’s relationship with its supplier and supports continuity in quality and sourcing standards across its pork range.

Browns Food Group chief executive Wayne Godfrey said the agreement supports visibility and market positioning for Scottish pork, particularly as branding initiatives such as the Prime Scottish Pork label are rolled out across retail channels.

The National Farmers’ Union Scotland said the development reflects progress in retailer engagement efforts to secure stronger commitments to local sourcing in the pig sector.

Quality Meat Scotland business development director Tom Gibson said the expanded partnership aligns with efforts to promote Scottish pork under a refreshed branding strategy intended to support industry growth.

NFU Scotland president Andrew Connon added that the renewed agreement provides greater stability for producers at a time when the pig sector continues to face cost and market pressures.
