The terminal forms part of the wider redevelopment of Sokhna Port and the Sokhna-Alexandria integrated logistics corridor.
The founding signatories are Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Pakistan, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, Yemen, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Sudan, Djibouti and Somalia.
Starting in mid-August, this service will use two ships to facilitate trade between Khorfakkan and Dar es Salaam every ten days.
Storage areas can also be configured for temperature-controlled conditions as customer demand grows, providing additional flexibility for customers with specialized supply chain requirements.
