Dangote Sugar posts higher revenue and reduced losses as improved efficiency and lower finance costs bolster performance.

NIGERIA – Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc has posted a 29 percent increase in revenue for the nine months ended September 30, 2025, rising to N626.24 billion (US$434.4M) from N484.43bn recorded during the same period in 2024.
The performance was disclosed in the company’s unaudited financial results filed with the Nigerian Exchange Limited.
Despite the revenue expansion, the company reported a loss after tax of N10.59 billion (US$7.35m) for the period under review, a notable improvement from the N184.36 billion (US$127.89M) loss recorded in the prior year.
According to the report, the reduction in losses was driven by improved operational efficiency, lower finance expenses, and recovery from previous fair value losses on assets.
Gross profit rose substantially to N90.06 billion (US$62.89M) in 2025 compared to N19.82 billion (US$13.75M) in 2024, supported by increased sales volumes and tighter cost control. Administrative expenses increased to N20.53 billion (US$14.24M) from N11.83 billion (US$8.21M), reflecting higher operational activities.
Finance income declined to US$2.32 million from US$4.81 million while finance costs fell sharply to (US$66.31 million from US$208.22 million in 2024, cutting the net finance loss to US$63.99 million from US$203.42 million.
Dangote Sugar recorded an operating profit of US$5.63 million for the period, significantly higher than US$5.66 million posted in the previous year.
The company’s total assets stood at US$707.53M as of September 2025, slightly below US$728.34 million reported at year-end 2024. Total equity attributable to shareholders decreased to US$137.73 million from US$147.25 million, while total liabilities amounted to US$566.82 million.
Property, plant, and equipment were valued at N615.69bn, and inventories totaled N130.5bn during the period.
Earnings per share improved to a loss of 87 kobo, compared to a loss of N15.18 in the previous year.
In May 2025, Dangote Sugar announced plans to establish a major sugar-processing complex in Kwame-Danso, Bono Region, Ghana.
The project will include a 12,000-ton-per-day sugarcane crushing facility and 25,000 hectares of irrigated farmland, producing refined sugar, ethanol, and molasses.
