Egypt’s chocolate exports reach US$251M in 2025

Egypt’s cocoa-based food exports rose sharply in 2025, with Arab markets accounting for most shipments and Saudi Arabia remaining the leading destination.

EGYPT – Egypt’s chocolate and cocoa-based food preparation exports reached about US$251 million in 2025, as shipments expanded across international markets and demand for Egyptian products increased.

According to the Food Export Council, Egypt exported approximately 33,000 tonnes of products classified under HS Code 180631 during the year, making the country the world’s 10th-largest exporter in the category, with a 3% share of global exports.

Export value increased 64% from 2024, while the sector recorded a compound annual growth rate of 38% between 2020 and 2025. Export volumes also increased at a CAGR of 17% over the same period, according to council data.

Saudi Arabia was Egypt’s largest destination in 2025, accounting for about $87 million, or 35% of total exports in the category. The United Arab Emirates followed with $37 million, representing nearly 15%, while Kuwait received products worth about $18 million, equivalent to 7%.

The UK ranked fourth among Egypt’s export destinations, with shipments valued at approximately $15 million, or nearly 6% of total exports. Qatar ranked fifth, receiving about $12 million, equivalent to nearly 5%.

Together, the five leading markets accounted for approximately $169 million of Egypt’s $251 million in chocolate and cocoa-based food preparation exports, representing 67.3% of the total.

The Food Export Council’s data showed that Arab markets accounted for a share of demand for Egyptian chocolate and cocoa-based products, while exports also expanded across other international destinations.

The sector’s growth has been supported by rising export values and volumes since 2020. The council data showed that value growth outpaced volume growth over the five-year period, reflecting the expansion of Egypt’s chocolate and cocoa-based food preparation trade.

Egyptian exporters are continuing to deepen their presence in established destinations while pursuing additional markets for processed food products. The export figures place Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, the UK and Qatar among the markets supporting Egypt’s chocolate trade.
