Elite Agro opens seventh Moroccan farm in Kenitra with US$136M berry investment
Elite Agro aims to expand its presence in this sector, building on its UAE operations and entering international markets.
MOROCCO – Elite Agro Holding has inaugurated its seventh agricultural site in Morocco, a 200-hectare farm in Kenitra dedicated to blueberry and raspberry cultivation, representing a significant financial commitment exceeding AED 500 million (approx. US$136 million) and reinforcing the country as the group’s largest berry production platform.
To begin with, the new farm uses advanced irrigation systems and agricultural technologies to support farming operations.
Hassan Halawy, Group CEO of Elite Agro Holding, said: “The opening of our seventh farm in Morocco marks an important step in Elite Agro Holding’s strategy to expand its berry production operations in the Arab world and international markets. Morocco is not only an important market for us, but it is our largest berry production platform, and we are continuing to scale our operations through a pipeline of projects.”
Elite Agro Holding’s direct investments in Morocco now exceed AED 500 million (US$136 million), making the group one of the largest foreign direct investors in the country’s agricultural sector.
According to the company, these investments have created more than 8,000 jobs across rural communities. The group operates production sites across agricultural regions, including Kenitra, Sidi Yahya, Fes, Beni Mellal, Sefrou, Marrakech, and Benslimane, cultivating blueberries, raspberries, pomegranates, pears, apples, peaches, nectarines, grapes, citrus, persimmons, and plums for domestic and export markets.
Furthermore, the berry sector is among the fastest-growing categories in the global fresh produce market. Elite Agro aims to expand its presence in this sector, building on its UAE operations and entering international markets.
The Kenitra facility utilizes advanced irrigation systems and agricultural technologies to support farming operations, ensuring efficient water management and optimal crop quality. These technologies align with the group’s commitment to international quality and sustainability standards.
Additionally, Elite Harvest Maroc’s operations are supported by certifications including GLOBALG.A.P., GRASP, Tesco Nurture, SPRING, Field to Fork, and SMETA. According to the company, these certifications reflect its focus on quality, food safety, sustainability, environmental management, and agricultural practices.
Therefore, the expansion positions Morocco as a strategic export hub for Elite Agro, enabling the company to capitalize on strong global demand for berries while meeting rigorous quality standards.
This move reinforces the group’s commitment to rural development and its goal of becoming a dominant force in the global fresh produce market.
