Deal covers processing plants, feed mill, and hatchery

USA – Foster Farms has reached an agreement to transfer ownership of its Farmerville, Louisiana operations to poultry processor Case Farms.
The deal includes the fresh chicken, prepared foods, and protein conversion plants in Farmerville, along with a feed mill in Arcadia and a hatchery in Athens, Louisiana.
The companies did not disclose financial details of the transaction, but both said they are working to ensure a smooth handover for employees, suppliers, and customers.
Foster Farms, which is owned by private equity firm Atlas Holdings, described the sale as part of its strategy to strengthen core branded retail and foodservice operations.
Case Farms said the acquisition is consistent with its expansion plans and will give it more flexibility in serving customers.
Mike Popowycz, vice chairman and chief executive of Case Farms, said the purchase aligns with the company’s long-term growth strategy and will support customers with a wider range of poultry products.
Foster Farms chief executive Jayson Penn thanked staff at the Farmerville facilities for their work and said the company values its role in the local community.
Penn added that Foster Farms expects Case Farms to continue investing in the region’s poultry sector, with current employees joining the Case Farms team.
He said the divestment strengthens Foster Farms’ ability to meet demand in its core markets, particularly branded poultry products consumed by households across the United States.
Earlier this year, Foster Farms announced it would end fresh turkey processing at its Turlock, California plant in May, citing shifts in consumer demand.
The Louisiana sale is the company’s latest step in reshaping its portfolio to align with market conditions and strategic priorities.
