Allegro Funds to acquire majority stake in Australian pork processor BE Campbell

Campbell family retains significant shareholding and management role

AUSTRALIA – Australian pork processor BE Campbell has entered a new ownership phase after private equity firm Allegro Funds acquired a majority stake in the business.

The companies did not disclose financial terms of the transaction.

BE Campbell, headquartered in Sydney, employs more than 750 people and has a national footprint in the Australian meat industry.

In a joint statement, the parties confirmed that the Campbell family will continue to hold a significant stake and remain active in day-to-day management.

BE Campbell markets its products under the Bruemar and BE Family brands and has built its presence in the domestic market over 55 years.

Chairman Ted Campbell said the family is looking forward to working with Allegro on the next stage of development while maintaining its role as shareholders and executives.

The investment is expected to accelerate BE Campbell’s growth strategy, which includes capital upgrades at its processing facilities, expansion into new product formats, and a stronger commercial platform for local customers.

Allegro managing director Jeffrey Largier said the firm was impressed by BE Campbell’s track record and considers it a leading player in the pork sector with strong growth potential.

The company’s operations span whole pigs, primary cuts, and value-added products tailored for supermarkets, foodservice providers, butchers, and distributors.

Exports also form part of the business, with products reaching markets across the Asia-Pacific region.

BE Campbell runs two plants in western Sydney, with its Wetherill Park site serving as the head office and processing hub capable of handling 15,000 pigs weekly.

The Arndell Park facility specialises in further processing and value-added production, managing approximately 400 tonnes per week.

The partnership with Allegro is intended to give BE Campbell additional capacity and resources to strengthen its position in both domestic and export markets.
