The financing will support Complete Farmer’s input-financing model and agronomy services as the Ghanaian agritech company targets 240,000 farmers by 2030.

GHANA – Ghanaian agritech startup Complete Farmer has secured a US$2.4 million convertible loan from the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to expand input financing and agronomy services for smallholder farmers across Ghana and Togo.
The financing is supported by the Business Investment Financing Track (BIFT) of the Global Agriculture and Food Security Program (GAFSP).
The company will also receive US$480,000 in IFC advisory support to strengthen its systems and capacity as it expands its farmer-financing model. The partnership is expected to help extend Complete Farmer’s support to 240,000 farmers, including by facilitating access to finance, by 2030.
Founded in 2017, Complete Farmer connects smallholder farmers in Ghana and Togo with international commodity buyers. The company currently works with more than 72,000 farmers and supplies buyers including Aldi and Lidl.
Its operations are supported by more than 350 field agents and eight fulfilment centres that handle aggregation, grading, quality control and export logistics. Complete Farmer has also expanded into farm inputs and equipment through its marketplace and
“For us, this partnership is about making finance work better for farmers,” said Desmond Koney, CEO of Complete Farmer.
“Too many farmers with the capacity to grow commercially still struggle to access the financing they need to do so. Over the years, we have focused on building the technology, data and market infrastructure that makes it possible to better understand farmers, support their production and connect what they grow to real demand.”
Koney said the IFC partnership would allow the company to build on that infrastructure and expand its input-financing model.
“Our partnership with IFC allows us to build on that foundation and scale our input financing model, so that more farmers have the resources and support they need to grow sustainably and participate more meaningfully in agricultural markets,” he added.
The new financing follows Complete Farmer’s US$10.4 million pre-Series A funding round in September 2023 and US$2.5 million secured from the European Union-funded AgriFI facility in 2025.
The IFC financing will strengthen the company’s ability to provide farmers with production inputs and agronomy services while its advisory support will focus on systems and capacity needed to manage the expanded financing operation.
Complete Farmer said its broader objective is to connect more smallholder farmers with financial institutions while combining access to inputs, agricultural support and markets.
The company’s expansion across Ghana and Togo is expected to increase the number of farmers receiving financing and related agricultural services as it works towards its 2030 target.
