JBS’s Friboi to roll out express meat delivery

Friboi introduces same-day delivery for fresh meat in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro

BRAZIL – Friboi, a brand of meat processor JBS, is introducing an express delivery service in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, allowing restaurants, butchers, and retailers to receive fresh beef within hours.

In the early months of the project, the company reports completing over 2,000 deliveries across São Paulo, moving more than 500 tons of protein and generating revenue exceeding US$2.9 million (R$16 million).

Plans are underway to extend the service to other Brazilian states later in the year, with the company positioning logistics efficiency as a key focus for its domestic operations.

The introduction of express delivery comes as JBS is also strengthening its global footprint, with the company confirming the start of beef exports to Vietnam.

An initial 27-ton consignment left its Friboi plant in Mozarlândia, Goiás, after both Mozarlândia and Goiânia facilities were cleared by Vietnamese authorities to supply beef to the Southeast Asian market.

The launch shipment was marked by a formal event in Rio de Janeiro attended by Vietnam’s Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính alongside Brazil’s Agriculture Minister Carlos Fávaro, highlighting the trade’s diplomatic significance.

Vietnam, home to more than 101 million people, imported close to 300,000 tons of beef and buffalo meat in 2024, much of it to satisfy rising demand from an expanding middle-income population.

Recent figures from Vietnam’s General Statistics Office show the country’s economy growing by 7.6 percent in the second quarter of 2025, a trend that is fueling higher meat consumption.

By sending beef to Vietnam, Brazil joins other suppliers tapping into a market that is becoming increasingly urbanized and reliant on animal protein imports.

JBS representatives say the development is expected to create opportunities across the beef production chain in Brazil, from cattle farmers to meat processing facilities and suppliers.

At the ceremony in Rio de Janeiro, Marcela Rocha, Executive Director of Corporate Affairs at JBS, said the export approval strengthens a sector that accounts for about one-fifth of Brazil’s GDP and supports thousands of jobs.

The company has been present in Vietnam since 2014 in other business areas, but the new export clearance marks its first entry into the country’s beef supply.
