Jungbunzlauer’s latest innovations reflect a broader strategy to elevate texture, nutrition, and clean-label performance across food and supplement applications.

SWITZERLAND – Jungbunzlauer, a global supplier of sustainable ingredients from natural sources, is expanding its texturants offering with the launch of TayaGel LA, a new low-acyl gellan gum.
Developed in response to increasing demand for plant-based and label-friendly formulations, TayaGel® LA delivers outstanding suspension performance and firm gels at very low use levels.
It creates a smooth mouthfeel and has a clear appearance, making it ideal for applications where both clean taste and visual appeal are essential.
“With TayaGel® LA, we’re expanding the possibilities for formulators seeking reliable, high performing, naturally derived texturant solutions,” said Jens Birrer, VP Texturants at Jungbunzlauer.
He assured that the company’s expert team works closely with customers to ensure the desired texture is achieved when integrating or switching texturants, or combining them with other company products, such as TayaGel HA.
TayaGel® LA enhances Jungbunzlauer’s texturants portfolio, which now includes a full range of xanthan gum grades, both high-acyl (HA) and low-acyl (LA) gellan gums, as well as customised blends and application support for superior suspension, gel formation, and more.
“Produced with the same reliability, expertise and high-quality that define Jungbunzlauer’s wider product portfolio, including acidulants, sweeteners and mineral salts, these texturant offerings enable us to support customers across a wide variety of food, beverage and nutrition applications with more consistent results,” Birrer added.
As part of its ongoing commitment to customer-driven innovation, Jungbunzlauer has continued to strengthen its texturants platform through targeted investments in expertise, capacity and product development.
This includes the acquisition of Alliance Gums & Industries (AGI) in 2024, the addition of senior specialists to its texturants team, and the company’s expansion of its biogum capacity at its Port Colborne, Canada site.
These developments reflect the company’s long-term strategic commitment to supporting customers with more in-depth expertise, enhanced functionality, and tailored
Advancing gummy supplement formulation with bioavailable mineral solutions
In parallel with its texturants expansion, Jungbunzlauer is also responding to the evolving gummy supplement market with bioavailable mineral solutions tailored for next-generation pectin and gelatine-based formats.
With nearly two-thirds of U.S. adults now preferring gummies over tablets and the global category projected to surpass US$52 billion by 2030, the company has introduced innovative micronised forms of zinc and calcium citrates, along with a finer granulation of magnesium citrate.
These new ingredients address growing demand for high-dosage formats that offer smoother textures, improved flavour, and better nutrient uptake.
Jungbunzlauer’s proprietary R&D highlights how the right granulation size, combined with organic citrate-based minerals, helps formulators overcome common challenges, delivering neutral taste and odour even at high fortification levels, excellent dispersibility for uniform distribution, and good processability across both pectin and gelatine systems.
This makes it easier for food and supplement brands to create fortified gummies that meet consumer expectations for mouthfeel, taste, and efficacy, without compromising on nutritional claims or clean-label standards.
“These innovations reflect Jungbunzlauer’s longstanding commitment to quality, trust, and functionality,” said Markus Gerhart, Senior Director of the Minerals and Solutions portfolio. “Whether it’s a better mouthfeel or better absorption, we’re helping brands deliver value where it matters most.”
Produced with the same reliability, expertise, and high quality that define Jungbunzlauer’s wider product portfolio, including acidulants, sweeteners, and texturants, these organic minerals are designed to support high-bioavailable options, clean-label, and sustainable formulation goals without compromise.
Both the new TayaGel LA and the mineral gummy innovations were showcased at IFT FIRST 2025 in Chicago, underscoring Jungbunzlauer’s ongoing commitment to customer-centric development, technical support, and sustainable ingredient solutions.
