Kerry opens new Jakarta office, RD&A centre
New 1,200sqm facility includes flavour labs, co-creation spaces, and sustainable design
INDONESIA – Kerry Group has launched a new regional office and Research, Development and Applications (RD&A) centre in South Jakarta, expanding its operational presence in Indonesia.
The facility, located at RDTX Place in the Kuningan area, is designed to allow closer collaboration with local food and beverage companies in Indonesia and neighbouring Southeast Asian markets.
Covering 1,200 square metres, the centre includes two dedicated flavour labs for sweet and savoury applications, a sensory suite for product testing, and a co-creation lab for customer engagement with Kerry’s development teams.
According to Janeley Haryono, Kerry Indonesia’s General Manager, the centre is intended to enable faster product development by integrating customer feedback directly into the innovation process.
Haryono added that the investment supports Indonesia’s broader industrial roadmap, which identifies food and beverage as a priority sector in efforts to become one of the top 10 global economies by 2030.
Siddharth Rastogi, who leads Kerry’s Retail, Meat and Marketing operations in Southeast Asia, said that the Jakarta office enhances the company’s ability to respond to shifting consumer demands across the region due to its central location.
The decision to invest in Indonesia comes as the country’s food and beverage industry continues to grow, contributing 7.15 percent to GDP in the first half of 2024, with a projected annual growth rate of 4.53 percent.
Despite pressures such as inflation and evolving regulations, the sector is benefiting from a large population base and increased demand for locally relevant and health-focused products.
Kerry already operates manufacturing facilities in Cikarang and Karawang, the latter of which opened in 2023 with a total investment of €30 million (approximately US$32.6 million), making it the company’s largest new-build site in Southeast Asia.
The new Jakarta facility is also part of Kerry’s sustainability goals, and the building is currently undergoing review for LEED Gold certification, featuring energy-saving technologies, recycled materials, and construction waste reduction.
Ireland’s Ambassador to Indonesia, H.E. Pádraig Francis, who attended the opening, said the development reflects ongoing economic ties between Ireland and Indonesia, especially in the areas of food innovation and sustainable industrial growth.
