Thomas Mulliez takes the helm at Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin as Moët Hennessy reshapes leadership amid restructuring efforts.

FRANCE – LVMH’s Moët Hennessy has appointed Thomas Mulliez as the new President of its Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin division.
He succeeds Jean-Marc Gallot, who has led the champagne house since 2014 and is set to leave the company for a position outside the beverage alcohol sector.
Mulliez previously served as President for the Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) region, a role he assumed in mid-2023. He began his career at Moët Hennessy in 2020 as Managing Director of Latin America & the Caribbean, overseeing growth initiatives across the region.
Leadership of the EMEA division will now pass to Laure Baume, currently CEO of Moët Hennessy France.
Baume joined the company as Chief Consumer Officer in 2018 and later moved to head the Moët Hennessy Diageo joint venture in France at the end of 2021. She assumed leadership of the domestic French unit at the start of 2025.
Mulliez will report directly to CEO Jean-Jacques Guiony, while Baume will report to Deputy CEO Alexandre Arnault. The changes come during a period of significant restructuring for Moët Hennessy as the company adjusts to a weaker market environment.
The wine and spirits division of luxury conglomerate LVMH reported its sixth consecutive quarter of declining sales in July. Revenue in the three months to the end of June fell 4% year on year, contributing to a 7% decline in the first half of 2025.
In May, Moët Hennessy announced plans to reduce its global workforce by more than 10%, approximately 1,200 roles, to return staffing to 2019 levels.
The division currently employs about 9,400 people worldwide. CEO Jean-Jacques Guiony said at the time that revenues had slipped back to 2019 levels while operating costs had risen by 35%, prompting the reorganization.
The leadership changes at Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin and across the EMEA region mark a key moment in Moët Hennessy’s efforts to streamline operations and adapt to current market conditions.
