Nile Breweries appoints Nkanyiso Mncwabe as Managing Director

Former SAB executive takes over leadership as Nile Breweries prepares for its next phase of growth.

UGANDA – Nile Breweries Limited has appointed Nkanyiso Mncwabe as its new Managing Director, with effect from January 1, 2026.

Mncwabe succeeds Adu Rando, whose tenure concluded on December 31, 2025. The company said Rando exits with a strong legacy after guiding Nile Breweries through a period defined by operational improvements, market growth and sustained community engagement.

The incoming managing director joins Nile Breweries from South African Breweries, a major subsidiary of Anheuser-Busch InBev, where he most recently served as Regional Commercial Director.

He brings more than two decades of senior leadership experience spanning general management, revenue management, trade marketing and logistics across multiple African markets.

During his career, Mncwabe has overseen commercial operations across five provinces in South Africa. He also served as Commercial Director for Lesotho between 2019 and 2021, before taking on a similar role in Eswatini from 2021 to 2022, where he was responsible for driving commercial strategy and execution.

Emmanuel Njuki, Legal and Corporate Affairs Lead at Nile Breweries Limited, said the company is confident that Mncwabe’s experience will support its next growth phase.

He noted that Mncwabe’s record in delivering commercial excellence, combined with his familiarity with the AB InBev operating model, positions him well to strengthen the brewer’s market leadership in Uganda.

In addition to his executive responsibilities, Mncwabe currently serves as an Executive Director on the boards of Eswatini Beverages, a position he has held since 2021, and SAB SHARP, where he has served since 2022. He previously sat on the board of Maluti Mountain Breweries until 2021.

Nile Breweries also recognised the contribution of the outgoing managing director, thanking Adu Rando for his leadership and strategic direction. The company said it achieved several key milestones during his tenure.

Founded in 1951, Nile Breweries Limited operates breweries in Jinja and Mbarara and produces brands including Nile Special, Club Pilsener, Eagle Lager and Castle Lite.

The appointment takes effect at the start of 2026.
