Court bars Radico Khaitan from using ‘Kashmyr’ brand as Piccadily Agro claims trademark infringement and consumer confusion.

INDIA – Piccadily Agro Industries (PAI) has obtained an interim court injunction restraining Radico Khaitan from using the brand name “Kashmyr” for its recently launched vodka, citing trademark infringement.
The order, issued by the District Court of Karnal on September 23, follows a petition filed by Piccadily Agro on July 30, 2025.
According to court documents, Radico’s “Kashmyr” mark is “deceptively similar” to Piccadily’s registered trademarks “Cashmir,” “Cashmere,” and their variants.
The court ruled that Radico Khaitan and its affiliates are “restrained from manufacturing, selling, offering for sale, advertising and/or promoting” the Kashmyr brand until a final judgment is reached.
Piccadily Agro launched its vodka under the Cashmere trademark in 2015 and later registered the “Cashmir” trademark in 2023. The company argued that Radico’s product name, pricing, and category similarity are likely to cause consumer confusion with its own established brand.
The interim order, passed under Order 39 Rule 1 and 2 of the Civil Procedure Code, will remain in effect until the case is fully adjudicated. Piccadily Agro said in its exchange filing that the matter is sub judice and carries no financial implications at this stage.
Radico Khaitan had introduced its Kashmyr vodka brand at the end of July 2025. The company has not publicly commented on the injunction.
Separately, Piccadily Agro is moving ahead with major capacity expansions. Earlier this month, the company unveiled plans to scale up its ethanol production and double its malt and barrel storage infrastructure.
As part of this initiative, PAI has acquired land in Mahasamund, Chhattisgarh, where it is building a 210 KLPD distillery. Machinery has already been delivered to the site, with commissioning targeted for the second half of FY2025.
Additionally, Piccadily Agro is expanding its barrel storage capacity from 45,000 to 100,000 barrels, with 30,000 barrels already added. New warehousing facilities are being developed to support the increased capacity, reinforcing the company’s investment in long-term growth.
