SCZONE, Agility partner on US$35M logistics hub for storage, assembly, redistribution
The venture will establish centres for storage, assembly, re-export, and redistribution, strengthening the logistics services system within the authority.
EGYPT – The General Authority of the Suez Canal Economic Zone and Agility have signed an agreement to develop a logistics hub, as well as regional distribution and redistribution centres, with investments ranging from US$30 million to US$35 million.
The integrated logistics zone is expected to span approximately 53,000 square metres and generate around 400 direct job opportunities.
The project aims to enhance supply chain efficiency while reducing overall operational costs and transit times by leveraging Egypt’s strategic geographic position as a primary corridor for global trade.
Facility Scope and Economic Impact
The venture will establish centres for storage, assembly, re-export, and redistribution, strengthening the logistics services system within the authority.
The project is expected to stimulate the local economy by generating approximately 400 new jobs and improving the regional investment climate.
The initiative will be executed through close coordination between the SCZONE and the Administrative Control Authority to bolster the nation’s investment climate and streamline project setup procedures.
Government Support and Strategic Alignment
Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said the project aligns with the state’s ongoing plans to develop infrastructure and services supporting logistics activities within the SCZONE. He added that the partnership aims to improve supply chain efficiency, reduce the time and cost of goods movement, and leverage Egypt’s strategic location as a primary corridor for global trade.
The agreement builds on Agility’s existing presence in Egypt. In February 2025, Madbouly inaugurated the first phase of Agility’s customs centre in the Sokhna Industrial Zone, a facility spanning 21,000 square metres with a US$25 million investment. This new logistics hub expands Agility’s footprint in the region, reinforcing the company’s commitment to Egypt’s logistics sector.
Regional Distribution and Redistribution Capabilities
By establishing regional distribution and redistribution centres, the project aims to position Egypt as a premier global distribution corridor.
Furthermore, the integrated logistics zone will enable businesses to serve multiple markets from a single location, reducing lead times and improving supply chain resilience for companies operating across the Middle East, Africa, and Europe.
Finally, the partnership with Agility, building on the company’s existing US$25 million customs centre in Sokhna, demonstrates confidence in Egypt’s logistics sector and its potential to become a premier global distribution corridor serving markets across the Middle East, Africa, and Europe.
