SPAR Nigeria operator opens new outlet in Abuja

More than 10,000 products available under one roof

NIGERIA – Artee Industries Limited, the company holding the licence for SPAR Nigeria, opened a new hypermarket at Novare Central Mall in the Wuse district of Abuja, offering shoppers a broad range of products and services in a single destination.

The outlet spans 3,221 square metres and has been laid out with spacious aisles and organised shelving to help customers locate items quickly and move around the shop with ease.

Store design elements, created in partnership with the global SPAR International team, include contemporary fixtures, strategic lighting, and visible signage to help customers navigate departments more efficiently.

The hypermarket stocks more than 10,000 stock-keeping units across multiple categories, ranging from everyday groceries to electronics and personal care items.

Fresh food sections at the store include a full-service bakery, produce areas for fruits and vegetables, a meat counter, and a variety of frozen food options.

Consumers can also purchase wines and spirits, food-to-go meals, and various other products.

According to Artee Industries, Wines & Spirits, Fruits & Vegetables, and Health & Beauty are among the departments that have drawn early interest from shoppers.

About 150 staff members are on site at the hypermarket to assist customers, handle restocking, and manage operations across the store’s sections.

Novare Central Mall, where the hypermarket is located, sits in Wuse’s Zone 5, an area characterised by a mix of commercial offices and middle to high-income residential communities.

The mall itself lies along key arterial roads in central Abuja, positioning the new store to serve both local residents and professionals working nearby.

To mark the launch of the hypermarket, the operator held a week of promotional activities that included price reductions of up to 30% on selected items.

During the opening week celebrations, shoppers could participate in free product sampling sessions offered by partner brands and try their luck in spin-and-win games set up inside the mall.

Organisers also scheduled activities aimed at families throughout the week, which were advertised to the public through social media posts, digital advertisements, outdoor billboards, and radio spots.

SPAR Nigeria’s licence was granted to the Artee Group by SPAR International in 2009, and since that time the group has grown the retail network through building new stores and converting existing outlets to the SPAR format.

The expansion strategy has helped increase visibility for local suppliers able to provide goods to the organised retail chain across Nigeria.
